Bloomingdale’s VIP Experience: Does It Get Any Better Than This?

As I headed down the train station, I couldn’t help but daydream about the magic inside those Little Brown Bags. I mean, when it comes down to those iconic symbols, we all know that there is some serious fashion going on. So, of course, I was excited to spend the day at the Bloomingdale’s flagship store on 59th Street! Who wouldn’t fantasize about that? As I arrived in New York, I gathered my stuff (yes, I travel with a carry-on everywhere I go, even if it’s for the day) and hailed a cab in the fanciest way I could think of: whistling it out! So Carrie Bradshaw, right? I finally arrived at the store in which many of my dreams had come true in the past, like my first Maje leather jacket or the time I went there to shop for my honeymoon. Oh, so many wonderful Bloomiememories! But, as you can see, my mind tends to wander a little too much and make up words…back to yesterday’s VIP Experience.

The day started off with lunch at David Burke inside the store. They have a select menu of salads, sandwiches and the most exquisite, fluffy bread you could imagine. This is the perfect spot for a day in the store with your BFF. I had the most delicious quinoa salad and gathered the right energy for an afternoon of shopping. After all, this activity can be considered a sport, unless you have a personal shopper. That’s when I met David Lisbon, my very own and fabulous personal shopper. As I entered the wonderfully put dressing room, David had already selected a few outfits for me, (as the professional that he is, before our meeting he had gone through my Instagram account so he could have an overview of my personal style). He pretty much nailed it with the selection he had put out for me. The best thing about having someone to edit the latest trends customized to your own style is that they suggest pieces you might never pull out yourself. For example, Lisbon had put out Theory’s sixties inspired, checkered pants that I would’ve never picked out myself; but, as I tried them with a white t-shirt, a fluorescent trench coat, and Dior’s latest pointy shoes, they became the first item on my shopping cart.

The afternoon unfolded to be a super fun experience. I tried so many different items from my favorite brands such as Sandro, Maje, Burberry, Gucci, Dior, The Kooples and so much more! The fashion show was complemented by a buttery soft cupcake from Magnolia Bakery located on the first level of the store. Of course, the experience wasn’t complete without a hand massage courtesy of one of the most exclusive beauty brands, Jo Malone. The scent, Cucumber Earl Grey, was the perfect refresher before heading back to my train returning to DC, sashaying down the corridors feeling super fancy and all.

As I sat on the train, looking out the window, the only thing I could think about was, “Does it get any better than this?” I really don’t think so. Plus, I had on my carry-on a whole lot of different items to satisfy my new spring wardrobe — checkered pants included.
